A movement by nail salon owners

Salons standing together for fair pay.

These salons made a simple promise: pay people right and put it on the books. Cash or check, it all gets reported. See who has joined and add your salon.

What joining means

Three simple promises.

Pay fair, report it

Everyone gets paid right. Cash or check, every dollar goes on the books.

Real paychecks

Pay runs through real payroll. Workers get real income on paper they can use for a loan or a home.

Grow the right way

Clean books protect the owner and the tech. We do this together and lift the whole industry.

Why we are doing this

When we move together, honest wins.

The industry is changing and the IRS is watching closer every year. Here is the hard part. If one salon reports every dollar and the shop next door pays cash under the table, the honest salon looks more expensive and can lose good techs. So we do this together. When salons follow the same rules, doing the right thing stops being the thing that holds you back.

This is not about blaming the past. If we pay our people right and report it honest, the whole industry gets stronger. That is the future I want to help build.

The reason behind it

Cash is not the problem. Hidden cash is.

You can still pay in cash. The law just wants every dollar reported, taxed, and run through payroll the right way. Here is the short version in plain English.

All pay counts as income. Wages and tips get reported whether they come as cash or a check. IRC § 61

Owners report and withhold. When someone is a W-2 employee, you take out taxes and report their pay. IRC § 3402 IRC § 3102

Tips get reported too. Tips go through payroll, not around it. IRC § 6053

Classify workers correctly. Whether a tech is an employee or an independent contractor depends on how your shop actually runs. Both can be done the right way. What matters is that the label fits the real setup and the pay gets reported either way, on a W-2 or a 1099.

So the promise is simple. Report 100 percent of what you pay and run it through real payroll. And when every salon holds the same line, no one gets undercut for doing it right. That is why we sign together.
